How do I transport a rose other than holding it in my hand? And how to get it to bloom in the morning?

i.e.: Wrapping in tin foil (looks tacky and cheap)

What to wrap it in to keep it safe? I need to transport it in a bag and don't want it crushed either.

And if the rose is closed, how can I open it without killing it?

Will it kill the rose if the stem is cut too short?

You didn't say how far you are taking it, like across town or across the state. I would recommend a long slender box & tissue paper. If you're taking it a ways, wrap the end of the stem in wet paper towel and wrap in plastic. You can remove it before presenting it. Never try to open a closed rose. It will open on its own. That's one of the joys of getting a closed rose, watching it open. It won't damage it to cut the stem short (the rose "died" once it was cut from the bush), but it makes it hard to put in a vase. Leave the stem long. It can be trimmed before putting in the vase.
