Pumpkin Cookie Cutter

im making some cookies for halloween but i need some help?

for halloween i thought it would be nice for me and my boyfriend to make some sugar cookies from scratch and decorate them with little halloween sprinkles. i got some cookie cutters that are a bat a ghost a pumpkin and a kitty but i want some of them to be orange some to be white and some to be black. i know how to get them orange but how do i get them black, can i buy black food coloring and how much would i need in order for it to look right?

if i can buy black food coloring can i get it in the cake decorating section of joann fabrics or would i have to go to a grocery store or walmart?
i would use icing or food paint but my boyfriend is helping and he doesnt like anything to get on his hands thats sticky or watery lol its his cute little phobia thats why were using sprinkles

You can also paint your cookies before baking them. Make an edible food paint out of an egg yolk mixed with a few drops of food coloring and paint the cookies with a clean paintbrush. The paint will dry while baking and give the cookie a colorful, glazed appearance.

To use food coloring:

To Make Orange: Mix equal parts red and yellow.

To Make Purple: Mix equal parts red and blue.

To Make Black: Mix 3 parts red, 3 parts blue, and 2 parts green.

Remember, you are just using the yolk of the egg and regular food coloring.

Additional Comment:

You whisk the egg yellow with the food coloring and use a brush to brush it on, no hands except for maybe separating the egg yolk from the white and you could do that for him.

Don't make ti so complicated. Have fun doing it or it is not worth doing.
