Is it possible to make icing roses out of ready made frosting or do you have to use fresh buttercream i?
Just wanted to know. I bought two containers of ready made frosting.One is strawberry flavored and the other is made with real cream cheese (or so the package says.)
I'm a student and kind of pressed for time, but I do like the idea of decorating each of my mini cupcakes and brownies with a rose, so I want to know if I really must make icing from scratch.
I have an icing bag with tips. I saw a video of someone making roses using the stick method. I also saw one with someone using a rose nail. I definitely do not have a rose nail, but I do have a handy wooden chopstick. Would this work?
It has been my experience that the canned icing is not stiff enough to make roses. If you still want to try I would mix in some powdered sugar. This will make it slightly more stiff but I would not do it long before you. Also the chopstick should work or you could try to put the rose directly on the cupcake. Good luck!
