Can you put vellum on a cake?

I don't have the time or the money to have an edible rice paper cake top printed. I wondered if I could print out my image on a vellum sheet and place it on the cake. Is that a health risk (either the paper itself, or the ink)? Obviously, we'd remove the vellum before the cake is eaten...

You should always use edible paper (rice paper) and the ink should be food coloring..you could go into your bakery and ask them to print up a picture for you on their cake copier and they should for a small price...never use regular ink cuz it could run onto the cake and make someone sick.
