how to make hard edible cut out decoration for top of cupcakes?
i'm making cup cakes for a a party. i have a cookie cutter the shape of a star. i want to cut out the star from some sort of thin sweet candy like substance and have it stiffen and place the star as a decoration on each cupcake with a colorful frosting underneath.
is there a dough or type of recipe i can make to do this? something edible, sweet, soft but will stiffen and can cut out images

Get some fondant. You can get tubs of it at wal-mart in the craft section. you can dye it with food coloring, or paint after you are finished cutting the stars out. Directions come with the tub on how to use fondant.
