Was she insensitive to buy the wrong cookies?
I was responsible to purchase the cake to my friend's baby shower at the office. I decided to buy cup cakes instead since I am tried of the old offfice cakes. I purchased several types of small cup cakes and was proud of how my decoration would look.
My co-worker went out during lunch and purchased these cookies and delivered to me and gave me just in case we ran out. Since the cookies didn't fit into my decoration, I left them out and left them at my desk just in case we actually ran out of cake. She asked where the cookies where and proceeded to put them anywhere at the table and my decoration was altered.
I thought the whole thing was a bit insensitive and controlling on her end. She should have trusted that I would deliver my end of the responsibility. What do you guys think?
I don't think that she didn't 'trust' your ability, she thought she was being helpful. Once she had brought the cookies she didn't want them to sit on your desk and be waisted. I don't think she was being overly insensitive, I think you over-thinking things. Try to relax a bit more. Dwelling over little issue in the office can sometimes make us more frustrated than not and you will be the one that suffers. The girl probably really likes you and that's why she wanted to help out. Maybe look at it that way intead of thinking the worst.
