When you cook, do you really care about 'cross-contaminating' stuff?
I don't.
I'm not a chef in a restaurant or anything, but if I'm cooking for the rest of my family (because my mom is lazy), or if people are coming over and I cook, I tend to not care about that.
Yes, I always wash my hands, but I don't worry if I get some of the food on my hands, or tasting it with the mixing spoon to see if it's good yet.
So I was just wondering if it was only me
Hmm... I love cooking! I watch all those cooking shows on TV too where they ALWAYS take like 5 minutes from the show just explaining how not to cross-contaminate in the kitchen. Sometimes I agree with them, but sometimes I really think it wouldn't matter.
For instance, if you're making....let's say a stir-fry with chicken and veggies...I don't think it really doesn't matter whether you're using the same cutting board to cut the chicken and slice the vegetables.
I mean, when you think about it, it all ends up frying on the same freaking hot pan HAHA..I mean all the germs and dangerous bacteria would get killed off anyway, so what's the deal? (But I do wash my hands, because THEY don't end up in the pan soo... =P)
In other cases, like when I'm making caesar salad, where the chicken is cooked, but the veggies are NOT; I often use a different cutting board and definitely wash my hands. I try to cook the chicken all the way through...but usually it ends up being a little dry *Sob* haha.
I'm also pretty careful with eggs. I have a nasty experience involving raw eggs that happened when me and my mom were making cake batter (or whatever it was)... I remember it was some yummy, desert batter and I totally forgot there were eggs in there, so i took my finger and dipped it in the batter and then of course licked it off : Never did I know that I was going to have such a bad reaction to it! I spent the whole night having awful stomach cramps and i had a fever too, so I had to go to the doctor's office the next day and he, not surprisingly, diagnosed it as food poisoning (particularaly because of the salmonela)
So poo. Heh! That's it...I'm really careful with eggs since then, and I love eggs in any shape or form, so yeah. GO EGGS >.>
Keep cookin' good lookin'!
Hahah, just had to use a cheesy line like that. 'Cuse me <.<
But seriously, keep cooking but just watch out for what you taste!
Bai~
