What are the short sequences of film in between television progammes called *technically*?

I don't mean adverts! (on the commercial channels) nor "trailers" but the pieces of film - like those hippos swimming aound on BBC I or when they used to show a globe.

Don't the current BBC ones make you want to pick up a penguin? (That was my question really but I didn't know what to call them (the bits of film not the penguins!) so I get two Q's for one now!).

Oh and another one - can you still get "Club" chocolate biscuits? - I liked the orange ones - and I liked the adverts too!

Oh and one more while I'm at it - what is your favourite choclate biscuit? - I never did like Kit Kats but they seem to have stood the test of time (Penguins are the best because they have choclate on the outside *and* the inside - like my chocolate cakes when I used to bake them!).

the piece of film you are referring to are called "idents", and they have been around for many years BBC biggest and most remembered was the world mirrored globe and this ran from 1969 until 1985 where it changed and was kept until 1991.

Also on ITV all locals stations had their own ident which represents the regional channel, the most popular being the ATV logo followed by my personal favourite the Anglia knight, these slowly disappeared under when Mrs Thatcher did another of her hatchet jobs and made it under Carlton Television, (she was later said this was one of her regrets).

I used to like the raisin clubs they were lovely, and yes you cannot beat a penguin...p-p-p-p-pick up a penguin.
