How should I do this cake?
I don't do cake batter or icing by scratch, lol I usually just buy the betty crocker stuff... for a bridal shower... I was thinking all I would need to do is buy a heart shaped cake pan, and 3 different colors of icing? what do you experienced bakers think?
It's a cute cake. You'll want a firm cake rather than a soft one. I recommend using a pound cake mix, just so that it will be able to hold up the mounds of cake near the top.
The cake shown here is covered in fondant icing. It's not at all like the stuff in a tub/can you can get at the store. I would consider making fondant or purchasing some from a specialty store - one that has cake decorating supplies. Otherwise, it's going to look messy rather than pretty.
